The quality of welding wires is not only influenced by their production, but also by their storage and handling. Aluminum-containing and unalloyed wires are particularly sensitive, as they are susceptible to surface oxidation and moisture absorption.

High humidity or temperature changes (e.g. during transportation) can lead to the formation of oxide layers or condensation on the wire surface.

These surface changes can lead to pore formation, bonding defects or, in rare cases, a tendency to crack during the welding process - especially with high-quality materials or critical weld seams.
