Choose the right tungsten electrode for your welding application. The electrodes are color-coded and differ in their composition and suitability for alternating or direct current.
The green electrode (WP - pure tungsten) is traditionally recommended for welding aluminum with alternating current (AC). It forms a spherical tip during welding and offers stable arc behavior.
Modern alternatives with better service life and flexibility are the gold (WL 15 - lanthanum-doped) or black (WZr - zirconium-doped) electrodes, which are also well suited to aluminum.
