Insufficient Shielding Gas Coverage
If shielding gas coverage during welding is insufficient, the weld seam is not adequately protected from oxygen and nitrogen in the surrounding air. This leads to soot, oxidation, and discoloration on the weld surface. In addition to visual defects, the overall weld quality is often compromised.
How to avoid it:
- Ensure sufficient and stable gas flow
- Use the correct nozzle and maintain proper distance
- Protect the welding area from drafts
- Match shielding gas to material and process requirements
