Burn-through
Burn-through occurs when too much energy is applied to the workpiece during welding or when the welding speed is too slow. The material overheats locally, melts completely, and leaves a hole in the weld. This defect is especially common in thin-walled components.
How to avoid it:
- Reduce welding power (current, voltage, heat input)
- Increase welding speed
- Optimize joint preparation and gap size
- Use suitable parameters specifically designed for thin materials
